  • Sign-in to your cPanel account.
  • In the ‘’Files” section, tap on the “Files Manager” icon.

    • You will be redirected to ‘cPanel File Manager’.
    • Select the appropriate domain name or folder location
    • Tap on the “Go” button.

    • For editing your root directory .htaccess file, go to the ‘public_html’ folder
    • In case, .htaccess file does not show, tap on the “Settings” button on the Right Side of the top menu in the File Manager.
    • A new small window will be redirected.
    • Check the “Show Hidden Files (Dotfiles)” option and tap on the “Save” button.
    • You will be able to see the .htaccess file.
    • Right-click on the .htaccess file on tap on the “Edit” or “Edit Code” option.

    • You will find a drop-down menu, where you need to select a backup destination to ‘Remote FTP server’ and then add your email address so that you get a notification after completing the backup.

    Remote Server: FTP IP address or FTP domain name like ftp.example.com,
    Remote User: Your FTP Username
    Remote Password: Your FTP Password
    Port: 21 or other FTP Port
    Remote Dir: Remote Directory like /home/username/backupfolder/

    • After filling the remote FTP details, choose ‘generate backup button’
